Cover Reveal! The Spiral Ascended by Erin Danzer

Title: The Spiral Ascended (Spiral Defenders Series: Book Four)
Author: Erin Danzer
Genre: Young Adult Scifi/Romance
Publication Date: September 12, 2014

Blurb:
Everything seems perfect now that Ronnie is married. She can be crowned and finally defeat the evil that infests the Spiral.

Until Rick and the Irradians seize the castle.

Now, Ronnie and Gavin are in hiding. They must amass an army from those still loyal to them and protect their friends and family—all without leaving their refuge. When Ronnie ventures out, Gavin is captured. Their bond is severed. All Ronnie knows is that Gavin is still in her heart.

Until that breaks, too.

Ronnie must find the strength to ascend to her destiny and defeat Rick or risk losing everything forever.

Excerpt:

“We need to leave, Princess. Now,” Gavin growled at her, turning to kill a gremlin that thought it would sneak up on them.
“But my mom and dad! Andi and Shawn! I need to help them!” she screamed. She turned to jump into the fray to find them… only to have Gavin grab her again and pull her back against him. Three gremlins scurried towards them. Ronnie slashed out with her sword automatically, her eyes on the vile creatures but her mind racing with thoughts of what could happen to her parents and friends. Where were they?
Her heart pounded in her chest like a caged animal eager to be released. Her hands began to shake and she grasped her sword with both of them to steady her aim as another group of gremlins came towards her and Gavin. She met them head on, taking them out easily. She felt Gavin’s pride at her swiftness and gave a small smile. Her eyes turned back to the melee on the floor. Where were her parents? She thought she saw a glimpse of blonde curls and screamed for Andi. Again, Gavin grabbed her and stopped her when she tried to run after her friends. She turned on him with malice in her eyes.
“We need to get out of here. They’re protected,” Gavin declared, his grip tight on her left arm. “If you don’t come with me right now, I will throw you over my shoulder and drag you out of here. My number one priority is your safety.”
“My number one priority is theirs!” she screamed.
Her eyes scanned the crowd again and widened when she saw Rick enter the room. Before anyone else could get to him, Cenric was suddenly there swinging a sword at his brother. Rick parried with his own, the blade swathed in wraiths. She watched their deadly battle, everything around her falling away. In her mind, all she saw was Dirac falling at Rick’s hand. She couldn’t let that happen to Cenric, too. She shook off Gavin and took three steps before he grabbed her again, just getting her before she jumped off the dais. She glared at him as she spun towards him.
“I can’t lose him!” she pleaded, tears suddenly in her eyes.
“He can take care of himself,” Gavin pointed out. Still holding onto her, he opened a portal and pushed her through it, closing it as he followed.

To Gabby, Dimitri is an unneeded distraction, but he attracts her like no other man has for centuries. Will this hunter unlock the feelings she’d buried long ago or will he just open her up to more heartache? Can Gabby protect both of them from the demon stalking the Paris streets?

This is a short story companion to the Van Helsing Organization series.

A Prescription for Delirium (Van Helsing Organization #1)

Demons, werewolves, possessed bikers, madness spreading like a virus, and a revenge that has waited for over 500 years. What more could Gabby look for in a vacation spot?

Ninety years ago, Gabriella di Luca promised to protect the family of her dying lover. She failed to keep that promise. She was too far away to stop the devil that murdered the eldest Van Helsing son. Years later, Gabby learns the devil has resurfaced. She arrives in Hampton, TX, determined to stop the devil before it can lay a bloody hand on the remaining three brothers.

However, madness is spreading through Hampton. She suspects the devil is using this madness to test a drug which has a side effect of demonic possession. Gabby rushes to end the source of the madness only to fall victim to it. For a woman cursed with eternal life, dying is no threat. However, Gabby must stop the devil's plot or risk losing her most precious possession: her mind.

Author Bio:

Noree Cosper loves writing about magic in the modern world. While growing up in Texas she constantly searched for mystical elements in the mundane. She buried her nose in both fiction and books about Wicca, Religion, and Mythology. Everyday became an adventure as she joined a group of role-players, acting out her fantasies of vampires, demons, and monsters living in the world.

She embraced her nerdom wholeheartedly.

Noree grew, but never left her love for fantasy and horror. Her dreams pushed her and her hand itched to write the visions she saw. So, with her fingers on the keys, she did what her heart had been telling her to do since childhood. She wrote.

To thank her loyal followers for their patience and encouragement, Charlotte Abel is making it available for the first twenty-four hours for just $.99. On June 21st, the price will go up so grab it while it's a bargain.

http://bit.ly/RiversRemorse

Here's an excerpt from River's Remorse:

Jonathan closed Ephraimís journal then put it in the fireproof safe in the basement. He rubbed his eyes. He had no trouble seeing the tiny words, thanks to his enhanced vision, but it didnít help him decipher Ephraim's nearly illegible handwriting. It was pretty to look at but a bitch to read.
Thanks to Dadís genealogy addiction, he was used to reading that type of stylized writing. Heíd already studied the book with a magnifying glass and was able to tell Jonathan what he needed to know. He knew not to eat or drink anything in wolf formóunless he wanted to be a wolf for the rest of his life. He also knew he needed to be careful about how much time he spent as a wolf and that he needed to stay in charge. Heíd figured that part out on his own the night he merged.
There was a lot of stuff about shifter history and lore, but that could wait. It was fascinating, but Jonathan needed to focus on the things that would keep him alive and human.
He hadnít shifted again since merging, and didnít want to, but apparently he didnít have a choice when the moon was full.
He locked the basement door, double checked the plywood sheets he'd nailed over the windows then stripped and removed his prosthesis. He wrapped a towel around his waist then FaceTimed Dad. ìOkay, Iím ready.î
ìI wish I could help you.î
ìYou are helping me.î Jonathan didnít know how out of control things might get so there was no way he was endangering Dad by letting him stay in the basement with him. ìPromise me you wonít try to come down here.î
ìI canít even get out of bed without help.î Dadís bitter tone surprised Jonathan. It was the first time heíd heard him complain about anything to do with his illness.
ìThereís nothing you can do down here that you canít do over the phone. The sound of your voice will help me remember who I am.î Jonathan hoped it would be enough. According to Ephraim's journal, he should be surrounded by older, more experienced shifters. He hoped River was with Reuben.
The thought of her ignited a radiant heat deep inside his chest. Ever since heíd merged, he felt her presence. It was a blessing and a curse. Their connection was real and tangible and he was grateful to have it. But the need to find her ate at him like an addiction.
Electricity charged the air. Jonathanís hair stood up on end. He didnít want to short out his phone, so he propped it up on a box then scooted over until his entire body was in view of the camera. ìCan you see me okay?î
Dad nodded. ìPlain as day.î
ìCan you reach your water?î
ìIím fine, son. How are you feeling?î
ìItchy.î Jonathan scratched his chest. His bones ached, but he wasnít going to complain about pain to Dad. "I feel like bugs are crawling all over me."
ìDonít fight it. Embrace the change. Let your wolf help, but stay in control.î
Tremors racked Jonathanís body as fever consumed him. His connection to River intensified exponentially. She must have shifted.
Yes! Run. Find mates!
Jonathan felt as if someone had embedded a giant fish hook in his heart and was trying to reel him in. Beads of sweat popped out across his forehead and upper lip. He gritted his teeth to keep from screaming.
ìJonathan? Whatís wrong?î
Dad carried enough guilt about delaying Jonathan's search for River. He wasn't going to add more weight to that burden by confessing how much it hurt to fight against their bond. ìThe feverís started.î
ìItíll break as soon as you shift.î
Jonathanís body convulsed then exploded in a blinding flash of pain. But it happened so fast, and disappeared so quickly, he wasnít sure if the pain was real or imagined. He scrambled to his feet and howled.
Escape. Run.
There was nowhere to run.
Jonathan trotted around the perimeter of the basement, knowing it was futile. He scratched at every board covering every window, but was thwarted by his own prior diligence. A corner piece of plywood splintered under his front paw. He wedged his muzzle into the triangular opening and bit off another chunk.
ìJonathan? What are you doing? I canít see you.î
Dadís worried voice pricked Jonathanís conscience, but his wolf refused to acknowledge it. He was hellbent on escape. He could almost feel the wind in his fur and the damp gravel under his paws as he ran along a river bank. The sharp tangy scent of pine layered over the sweetness of meadow grass called to him. He knew that heíd find River there. He intensified his efforts, digging and biting at the wood. Splinters pierced his gums and paws, but he barely noticed.
ìJonathan, please, I can hear you tearing something apart but I canít see you. Youíre not on camera.î
Jonathan tried to regain control of his wolf when he heard Dadís plea, but the beast was too strong. Too determined to escape and find his mate. He knew he wouldnít be able to shift back until after the moon set, but he tried anyway.
That got his wolfís attention. He trotted over to the box where Jonathan had set up his phone and hiked his leg.
ìNo! Jonathóî The screen flickered then went black, silencing the distracting voice.
A feeling of pride and ownership flowed through the wolf. He sniffed his mark then moved to the next box and claimed it, too.
He marked each wall, establishing his territory. Mine. Mine. Mine. He sniffed the pile of clothes his man had discarded and marked that, too. Mine.
He scratched the floor with his hind legs three times then trotted to the window and got back to work. He would find his mate and bring her here to his new den. They would stay until the man upstairs died then go home.
Happy?
Jonathan was glad that his wolf at least acknowledged his existence, but he was not happy. I can't believe you pissed on my clothes!

If you haven't read River's Recruit yet, pick it up today. And grab River's Remorse while it's on sale.

PKOT Teaser 2

EXCERPT: Still handcuffed together, we carefully maneuver our linked wrists and open the old train door. Inside, the boxcar is completely empty except for a single, folded piece of paper. I scowl. Will this scavenger hunt for money ever end? “What do you suppose it is?” Daren nods at the piece of paper in the back of the train car. “A check for a million dollars?” I say hopefully. The only way to reach the paper is to climb inside. Which won’t be easy since my chest barely reaches the bottom of the train car and we can’t climb in one at a time because, you know, we’re attached to one another. I frown. “How do you want to do this?” Daren scratches his jaw. “I’ll hoist you inside first then I’ll jump in. Come here.” He turns me around to face him and I step into the circle of his arms. The summer sun burns down on us. I stare at his chest where his T-shirt pulls tight against the hard muscles of his pecs and a trickle of sweat slowly slides down the back of my neck. The corded muscles of his neck ripple as he turns his head. “Hold on to my wrists. Then I’ll lift you up.” He places his big hands on my waist and his thumbs slide under my shirt, grazing the bare skin of my stomach. A warm zing shoots down my belly. I snap my eyes to him. “Did you do that on purpose?” “Do what?” His expression is neutral but there’s a glimmer in his eye. I eye him shrewdly as I wrap my hands around his wrists. He glides the pads of his thumbs over my stomach again and another, more powerful, zing darts straight down my belly and between my legs as I suck in a breath. “Cut it out,” I say. “Cut what out?” His eyes dance with amusement. “You know what.” “I have no idea what you’re talking about.” A mischievous grin spreads across his face and I can’t stop the smile that starts to play at my own lips. “Daren...” His eyes lock on mine and the twitching low in my belly starts up again. Then his gaze drops to my mouth and hunger lights his eyes. I absently part my lips, my thoughts suddenly hazy. Leaning in, he whispers, “Now do you want to kiss again?” His words flutter over my ear like soft, warm butterflies beating their wings against my sensitive skin and a shiver runs through me. The answer is yes. I do want to kiss him again. It felt so good to have his mouth on mine last night. To feel him up against me. But I don’t answer. He brushes his thumbs over the naked skin of my belly again, but this time dips them inside the waistband of my skirt and skims the lacey top of my panties. I inhale sharply, tightening my fingers around his wrists as my nipples harden and heat builds in my core. I rub my thighs together, trying to alleviate the ache slowly building between my legs but it’s no use. I’m already a tight puddle of need. How come this beautiful man can make me melt with just a simple touch? And how come it’s always so difficult for me to snap out of his sexy gaze? I blink away from Daren’s pretty brown eyes and playfully whisper, “No,” before shifting back a few inches. His eyelids, heavy with desire, open fully as he scans my face and throat with a smile. “Liar.” I smile back, grateful he doesn’t try to convince me otherwise. I’d no doubt give in if he did. Because Daren affects me. Every other guy on the planet is just that: a guy. But Daren is a force. And I am a feather.
